After a long, hot and fun summer – it is time to go back to school. Considering the pandemic and the anxiety it has caused (and continues to cause!) – I’m sure many parents and educators are worried. Worry and uncertainty are our new normal. So, what can we do?

Begin each day grateful that you’re beginning another day. Take a moment to notice that ‘in this moment, I am okay.’  Then, move on from there. Try to stay away from fear inducing conversations or media outlets that take hold of your mind and stress you out. Instead, do whatever  you can to first – calm yourself, and then – calm the children around you.

Whatever we have to face, we will face. We have the strength and tools to handle the life we are living. This is true.

This year, I too face a whole new world – as I have been hired by a wonderful IB school in Maple Ridge, BC. My role is Social Emotional Learning Coordinator and K-12 counsellor and I cannot wait to collaborate and support the thriving Meadowridge community. This means that I will no longer be available during the school day – but can still be requested for evening workshops/presentations.

I wish you all health and safety and peace.

Good luck!
